PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform effective guidance by registering beforehand into an image, additional information (a weather, a time zone at day or night or the like, or the like) in addition to position information at a photographing time of the image, selecting and displaying the image having the additional information optimum to the present position even in the case of the same spot at a navigation time, and displaying the image fit to the weather, the time zone or the like at actual traveling, in a navigation system for displaying the present position and a designated route on a map. SOLUTION: This navigation system is equipped with a database acquired by linking and registering an image photographed at a previous traveling time, position information at that time, and the additional information comprising at least the weather and the time zone, a means for retrieving the database based on the present position or on the present position and the traveling direction and extracting the image coincident to the highest degree, and a means for displaying the extracted image in addition to the present position and the designated route.
