PURPOSE: An illegal program installation preventing method is provided to prevent an installation of a commercial program when the program is installed more than a set user number. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A user number for each commercial program is registered at a management server when the program is distributed. If the distributed program is installed at a server, the data on the program is transmitted to the management server. The program is normally installed if the program is installed within a permitted installation number, and then the data on the program is transmitted to the management server. But if the program is installed over the permitted installation number, the program is prevented from being installed.
