<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a homogeneous combustion type gasoline engine with excellent fuel consumption allowing lead-in of a large quantity of EGR gas. <P>SOLUTION: EGR gas is led into a combustion chamber (cylinder) by using an external EGR mechanism or an internal EGR mechanism, and thereafter, the air-fuel mixture of the fresh air and the fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber from an air-fuel mixture injection valve to form an air-fuel mixture range near an ignition plug. After an air-intake valve is closed, operation parameter of the engine is controlled in response to the quantity of the fresh air supplied into the combustion chamber (cylinder). With this structure, homogeneous combustion by a large quantity of EGR becomes possible, and fuel consumption is improved as a result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
