<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic honeycomb structure having an excellent isostatic strength and an improved efficiency in removal processing of a peripheral edge, in which a crack is hardly spread at baking by appropriately selecting the process for removing a deformed cell generated on an outer skin and its vicinity at molding and the outer skin is hardly peeled from a honeycomb body by surely forming, on the outer peripheral surface of the structure, a recessed groove which is open outside and has no partition to be separated from the outside. <P>SOLUTION: This ceramic honeycomb structure has the outer skin obtained by extrusion molding a ceramic body, drying and firing, and is characterized in that a part of the peripheral edge contacting the outer skin is removed after drying and before firing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
