<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device for a vehicle capable of surely controlling the tension of a belt before collision without imparting a sense of incongruity to an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: The seat belt device for a vehicle is equipped with a first pretensioner 16 for winding a webbing 11 to a retractor 12 by a desired tension, a second pretensioner 17 applying a tension to the webbing in an emergency to finally restrain the occupant, a brake-pedal stroke sensor 20 detecting a manipulated amount of a brake of the vehicle, a laser radar 51 detecting an obstacle in front of the vehicle, and a first controller 30 controlling the tension by the first pretensioner 16 in accordance with at least one of a tension control based on the detection data of the brake-pedal stroke sensor 20 and the detection data of the laser radar 51. The first controller 30 always operates the control based on the detection data of the brake-pedal stroke sensor 20 when the control determination is established, and selectively operates the control based on the detection data of the laser radar 51. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
