<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable polarization dispersion compensator which has no movable part so as to electrically respond fast and is inexpensive and convenient. <P>SOLUTION: The polarization dispersion compensator is equipped with a polarized light converter 11 which has a control electrode formed on an optical single-crystal substrate with electro-optical effect and can optionally control polarization modes by applying voltage to the control electrode, and has birefringent optical fibers 12 and 13 arranged on a light input side and a light output side of the polarized light converter 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
