PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber strand suitable for production of a carbon fiber-reinforced resin excellent in tensile strength in the axial direction of the fiber. SOLUTION: A sizing agent composition comprises at least 70 wt.% sizing agent which is not heat-treated, in which the product [α<SB>tan</SB>δ×β<SB>tan</SB>δ] of tanδofαrelaxation peak of the sizing agent composition heat-treated for 2 hr at 130°C with tanδofβrelaxation peak of the sizing agent composition is 0.04 to <0.07. The carbon fiber strand is obtained by applying the sizing agent composition to a carbon fiber bundle. An epoxy resin is preferably used as the sizing agent.
