PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microporous membrane which has excellent balance of compression resistance, permeability, mechanical properties and heat resistance and to provide a method for producing the same and a use thereof. SOLUTION: The microporous membrane has structure which comprises a polyolefin and a non-polyolefin-based thermoplastic resin and in which a fibril constituting the microporous membrane is cleft around fine particles having 1-10μm diameters dispersed in the polyolefin so that pores composed of crazing voids are formed and the fine particle are retained in the pores.
