PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture/sound recording apparatus and reproducing apparatus capable of preventing a failure of recording caused by an operation error or operation timing deviation in recording. SOLUTION: Multiplexed data of motion pictures/sounds before recording start are temporarily saved on a built-in memory 104 and a control part 106 which accepts an instruction of playback recording start secures a data region for storing the multiplexed data on the memory 104 for predetermined time on a recording part 105. When recording the multiplexed data saved on the memory 104 in the case of starting or ending recording, the data are recorded in the data region secured on the recording part 105 while changing time information and header information added to the multiplexed data. When a change of motion picture and/or sound encoding conditions or switching of a motion picture and/or sound to the other occurs, saved data on the memory 104 are erased or the predetermined time is changed to be shorter than or equal with a time length from the time point of change or switching occurrence to the time point of the recording starting instruction.
