PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of limiting at least a part of its functions depending on the place to use. SOLUTION: When a digital still camera 100 is carried outside from a theme park TP, a CPU 11 determines that it is outside the theme park TP (out of a predetermined area). Accordingly, the main power supply is shut off and all functions of the digital still camera 100 based on the control of the CPU 11 are stopped. According to the arrangement, unauthorized use is restricted, and the recovery rate is increased for the digital still camera 100 provided to a user on a rental basis. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
