PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sure and strong knitting tool insensitive to a loop-forming process and, especially, variety of usable thread. SOLUTION: The knitting tool for flat knitting and warp knitting machines is provided, wherein a knitting needle 2 has a longitudinal needle stem 5. the needle stem has a hook 9 on one end and has a chest region 12 with a space from the hook, the chest region is wider than other parts of the needle stem 5, further, a driving measure providing longitudinal movement is set on the needle stem 5, a shift needle 3 has a longitudinal main body 23, the main body is supported parallelly with and movably to the knitting needle and has a driving measure providing longitudinal movement, a shift hook 26 is formed on one end of the longitudinal main body 23 of the shift needle 3 and the width perpendicularly measured in a longitudinal direction 4 is wider than width of the hook 9 of the knitting needle 2.
