PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-halogenous vibration-damping material having both good flame retardancy and good vibration-damping performance. SOLUTION: The vibration-damping material is made from a resin composition consisting of a resin component comprising a thermoplastic resin, a rubber or a thermoplastic elastomer, and an inorganic filler containing a metal hydroxide. The resin composition also contains a phyllosilicate and/or a melamine-base flame retardant. The resin component contains an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and a styrene/isoprene block copolymer. The inorganic filler also contains a scaly filler. The phyllosilicate comprises a montmorillonite and/or a swelling mica, and it has an average interlaminar distance on the (001) face of at least 3nm as determined by the wide-angle X-ray diffraction measurement, a part or the whole of which is dispersed in at most five layers.
