PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outside acknowledging device for a vehicle that does not perform object detection by wrong image processing (pattern matching) even when there exists an object to be detected near right or left end of a radar visual field angle. SOLUTION: The outside acknowledging device for the vehicle comprises a scanning type distance measuring means for detecting the object around the own vehicle and outputting a relative position of the own vehicle to the detected object, an imaging means for imaging a state around the own vehicle, an image processing means for determining a processing region related to the pattern matching based on the imaging result of the imaging means using the scanning type distance measuring means. The outside acknowledging device has a recognizing means of a distance measuring state for recognizing the distance measuring state of each object based on the scanning type distance measuring means, and an image processing changing means for changing the processing of the image processing means in response to the output of the recognizing means of the distance measuring state.
