The invention relates to the medical use of one or more elements from the group containing yttrium, neodymium and zirconium, to pharmaceutical formulations containing said elements, in addition to implants, which are composed at least partially of said formulations. A formulation containing one or more of said elements has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human smooth muscle cells.
