The steering column has a mantle sleeve (3), a rotatable steering spindle (2) and a stationary switch module (7), fixed in the radial and axial directions relative to the mantle sleeve via one of the steering spindle bearings (12). The switch module has a centering device cooperating with the mantle sleeve by application of a force (F) coaxial to the longitudinal axis (L) of the steering spindle, for providing a defined position of the switch module relative to the steering wheel (4).
