OPERATION OF HALOGEN LAMP FOR CURING OF MATERIAL

A method and apparatus for curing dental material with radiation from a halogen lamp (10) provides for a shifting of a radiation spectrum to a shorter wavelength for increased rate of curing by adjusting current flow within a heating element (14) of the lamp (10). The current is applied over a time interval accomplishing the curing. Feedback and feedforward circuitry maintains an upper bound on the current magnitude of the heating element (14) thereby increasing lamp operating life.
