<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC card that is usable in such a way that a plurality of applications are switched from one to another and to provide a function whereby either of the plurality of applications is selectable no matter which protocol is used, TCP/IP or ISO7816. <P>SOLUTION: The IC card is provided with a correspondence table in which communication procedures and the application programs are stored in association with each other prior to execution of each application program, and an application selection means for selecting the application program to be executed by way of different selection paths for different communication procedures included in commands received from a terminal device.
