<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a string for recovering waste paper, discriminating recovered waste papers as waste newspapers from appearances, directly charging the recovered waste newspapers into a recycling plant and kept in the form suitable for binding the waste newspapers. <P>SOLUTION: A kenaf string for recovering the waste papers are obtained by cutting a string composed of 10-100 mass% of kenaf fibers and the balance composed of recycled pulp or natural pulp into a length long enough to bind the daily newspapers in an amount of nearly one month and bundling or packaging the resultant pieces of cut string. The pieces of kenaf string 1 can have tensile strength by twisting a strand 2. The pieces of kenaf string 1 can be prepared by twisting a strand prepared from the kenaf fibers and a strand composed of the recycled pulp or natural pulp together. The pieces of kenaf string 1 can be dissolved together with the waste papers and recycled in the plant for recycling the waste papers.
