PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance detection precision, to enhance flexibility, and to provide excellent versatility, in a multi-rotation type rotation angle detector. SOLUTION: Rotation of a main gear 3 coaxial to a measured shaft 2 is transmitted to a gear train 4 for deceleration. The gear train 4 has the first gear 11 meshed with the main gear 3, the second, third and fourth gears 12, 13, 14, and the final gear 15. The first rotational quantity sensor 5 for one revolution detects a rotational quantity of the first gear 11. The second rotational quantity sensor 6 for multi-revolution detects a rotational quantity of the final gear 15. An output from the first rotational quantity sensor 5 is brought into, for example, repeated waveforms having 120°of period with respect to a rotation angle of the measured shaft 2. It is decided that an output value from the first rotational quantity sensor 5 is a value in any period, using an output detected by the second rotational quantity sensor 6. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
