[Also in Group XXXVI] A Christmas tree lighting appliance comprises a plurality of baseless miniature bulbs having their filaments connected in series by wires lodged in separate holes in cylindrical non- conducting members, and having a return wire twisted with the wires to lock each bulb against one of the non-conducting members. A bulb 1, having a filament 2 supported by wires 3, 4, rests against an insulating member 6, which may be of polystyrene. The member 6 has 2 bores 10, 11 which protect the uncovered joints between the wire 5 and the filament supports 3, 4, and it may have a cup-shaped end to receive the bulb 1. An additional decorative member such as the cup 7 may be supported by the member 6 and retained by a ridge at one end. The return lead 12 is twisted up with the conductors 5 so as to lock the bulb 1 and member 6 together.</p> |
