[Also in Division C5] A composition for use in the oligomerization of conjugated diolefins comprises a zerovalent nickel compound and an excess (over that which binds to the nickel compound of an amine of formula R R<SP>1</SP>NH where R and R<SP>1</SP> are hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl or are included with the nitrogen atom in a ring. The zero-valent nickel compound can be prepared in situ by reducing a nickel compound with an organometallic compound. The amine may be aniline, N-methyl aniline, morpholine, toluidine, cyclohexylamine, diethylamine. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 917,103.</p> |
