摘要 PURPOSE: An LCD device and a fabrication method are provided to differently set phase differences of a phase different layer formed on one substrate in a reflective portion and a transmissive portion, so that the phase difference layer cannot operate in the transmissive portion, consequently the reflective portion can obtain sufficient reflectivity while the transmissive portion can realize a transmissive display without adding a new phase difference layer. CONSTITUTION: A reflective electrode(3) as a reflective portion is formed on one side of one substrate(2) of an LCD device(1) by a high reflectivity material. A transparent electrode(4) as a transmissive portion is formed by a high transmissivity material, while a polarizer(5) is disposed on the other side. Another substrate(6) consists of a reflective portion layer(7) as a phase difference layer on one side opposed to the substrate(2), and an opposing electrode(8) on both sides of the reflective portion and the transmissive portion. A polarizer(9) is disposed on the other side thereof. A liquid crystal layer(10) is inserted between the two substrates(2,6).
