PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate finish processing wherein a margin position and the amount of margins are evenly set even if original bundles in which the amounts of margins are different, and a regulated composite booklet which does not have picture lacuna is output on a recording medium. SOLUTION: In the image processing apparatus wherein a composite booklet is formed from a plurality of original bundles, the amount of image data margins of each page read with a scanning engine 211 is detected with a main controller 213. A prescribed image processing is performed based on the detected amount of margins and set amount of margins, in such a manner that margin position and the amount of margins are set to image data of the respective read pages and accommodation in a set effective image output region is enabled.
