PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line communication apparatus and a power line communication system whereby an existing multiple dwelling house and a shop facility simply build up an Internet environment at a low cost and occupancy of telephone lines by Internet users is avoided. SOLUTION: A master unit 130 is provided in the vicinity of a distribution panel 120 of a multiple dwelling house/shop facility 100 and coupled to power lines 110A to 110C in terms of high frequencies, head end units 150A to 50C by each group provided to each multiple dwelling house/shop facility 101 are coupled to the power lines 110A to 110C in terms of high frequencies, each house/shop 101 is provided with a remote unit 160, which is coupled to the power lines 110A to 110C in terms of high frequencies. The master unit 130 is connected to an existing Ethernet (R) 140, and the remote unit 160 is connected to a computer in the house/shop 101.
