PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw freezer permitting simplification and miniaturization of a structure and lightening of loads of maintenance. SOLUTION: This screw freezer 1 comprises a coolant circulation flow passage I including a screw compressor 11, a condenser 12, a main expansion valve 13 and an evaporator 14, and a bypass flow passage III guiding coolant passing through the condenser 12 into at least a middle pressure part inside the screw compressor 11 after being cooled by an economizer 15A as an example of cooling means.
