PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold assembly having good venting properties, capable of beautifully finishing a product surface and suitable for molding a thin-walled molded product. SOLUTION: A fixed mold 1 and a movable mold 2, both of which are opened and closed mutually and form a cavity 3 between them at the time of mold closing, are provided. A gas passage 15 for venting the gas in the cavity 3 is provided to the movable mold 2 and an gas permeable mold material 21, which is provided to the cavity 3 to communicate with the gas passage 15, is provided. The cavity 3 is filled with a molten resin J to mold a molded product 31. Since the gas permeable mold material 21 is so constituted that the porosity on the side of the surface 21A of the cavity is less than that on the side of the gas passage 15, the surface of the product is finished beautifully. Since the porosity is large on the side of the gas passage 15 of the gas permeable mold material 21 in venting, gas permeability can be ensured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
