PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device for dispersing a part for receiving stress of a member over the whole member, and absorbing energy by an earthquake by effectively using the whole member by expanding a plasticization range. SOLUTION: This plastic history type base isolation device has a damping mechanism for respectively fixing both end parts of a plurality of U-shaped curved members composed of an elastic plastic material to an upper structure and a lower structure, and has an U-shaped curved member having the ratio of a tip width to an end part width of the curved members falling within a range larger than 1 and smaller than 2, having the straight line part length of the U-shaped curved member of 10 cm to 70 cm, and having the ratio of the curved part length of the U-shaped curved member to the plate thickness of the member larger than 2.5.
