Protection method for dual voltage network e.g. in automobile, limiting voltage in lower voltage plane upon unwanted connection with higher voltage plane

The protection method provides limitation of the voltage in the lower voltage plane upon an unwanted voltage connection with the higher voltage plane, using a predefined limit voltage which is higher than the voltage of the lower voltage plane and lower than the voltage of the upper voltage plane, with disconnection of the voltage source in the higher voltage plane for initiating an emergency operating mode after a given time interval. An Independent claim for a voltage protection device for a dual voltage network is also included.
