With the new plasma panel technology new kinds of artefacts can occur in video pictures. According to the invention such an artefact is compensated by analyzing the motion in the pictures, assigning to each pixel of a picture a corresponding motion vector, determining a correction parameter (Pc) for an initial parameter (Pi) for a cell of the panel. The correction parameter (Pc) is compared with the initial parameter (Pi). Depending on the result of the comparison it is decided whether the pixel is activated with the correction parameter or with the given parameter. The comparison has the advantage that the correction parameter is not used in all critical cases where compensation artifacts could be generated.
