<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of full-color display realizing a high quality image at a high utilization factor of light by forming an image with two electro-opical modulation elements. <P>SOLUTION: The projector is provided with a light source, the electro-optical modulation elements, and a projection lens, and the electro-optical modulation elements comprise a 1st electro-optical modulation element and a 2nd electro-optical modulation element. Moreover, the projector is provided with a polarized light separation means for separating the light from the light source into two kinds of polarized light, an irradiated area specifying optical system for irradiating a predetermined irradiated area in an image forming area of the electro-optical modulation elements with the light from the light source, a color separating optical system for separating the light from the light source into a plurality of color light, and a color light scanning means for scanning the image forming area of the electro-optical modulation elements with any of the plurality of color light separated by the color light separating optical system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
