<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosensitive recording material having high sensitivity and color developability and excellent raw shelf stability by using microcapsules prepared by using an isocyanate which can be synthesized with good energy efficiency, and a multicolor thermosensitive recording material having high sensitivity, color reproducibility and raw shelf stability. <P>SOLUTION: The microcapsules having polyurea or polyurethane/urea walls are characterized in that at least one isocyanate compound to be used is the reaction product of (1) at least bifunctional isocyanate compound and (2) a polyether derivative having the terminal amino group expressed by general formula (I).
