<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC card having a data protection function requiring no rewriting processing by an upper device which may possibly write erroneous data. <P>SOLUTION: In this IC card, a readable/writable nonvolatile memory 4 inside the IC chip 1 is provided with a data storage area constructed of a plurality of blocks and a block management area including a plurality of block management parts. A computing processing part 5 stores a data status, which shows one of an effective status, an ineffective status, or an unused status of data stored in each block in the data storage area, as block status information in a management part for each of the blocks in the data management area, and at the same time, has a function of storing file identification information, which is used for distinguishing a file showing one or more blocks in the data storage area storing the data from the other file, and block information for one or more blocks storing the data while relating these pieces of information with each other so that these pieces of information serves as block allocation information in the data management area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
