PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a regeneration method for a lead storage battery free from electrode damage, and also to provide a regeneration device for a lead storage battery which secures safety during a regeneration treatment. SOLUTION: The method for regenerating the lead storage battery by decomposing a nonconductive coat adhered to an electrode comprises steps of: (1) discharging up to a voltage of 50% to 80% of a rated voltage of the storage battery, when the voltage exceeds 80% of the rated voltage; and (2) charging the storage battery so that the charging time lasts 5 hours or more and the voltage exceeds 80% of the rated voltage.
