PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device, etc. for enabling development of printed matter of a grade which can be commercially admitted from the picture entrapped at low scene brightness level by extending effectively the lower limit reaction threshold of a photosensitive element. SOLUTION: A camera 20 is provided with the primary lens 22 adjusted to focus light from a scene 24, an array 40 of micro-lenses 42 each of which has a light receiving surface 41 to receive light from the primary lens 22 and a light focusing surface 43 confronting a photosensitive element 30. The light focusing surface 43 is adjusted to concentrate the received light onto the element 30. A spacer allows the element 30 to be positioned so as to be separated from the light focusing surfaces 43 of the micro-lenses 42, and a shutter assembly 27 controllably passes light from the scene 24 to the array 40 of the micro-lenses.
