PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photocationic polymerization initiator composition useful for a dental application, which has high sensitivity to visible rays and exhibits a sufficient curing rate and curing depth by short-time photoirradiation. SOLUTION: This initiator composition comprises (A) a photo acid-generating agent generating an acid by photoirradiation such as a diaryl iodonium salt compound, a sulfonium salt compound, a sulfonate compound or a halomethyl-substituted-s-triazine derivative and (B) a fused polycyclic aromatic compound substituted with an alkyl group on a carbon atom adjacent to a condensed ring carbon where the alkyl group is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group bearing at least one hydrogen atom on a carbon atom linked to the condensed polycyclic aromatic ring such as 9,10-dimethylanthracene or 9,10-diethylanthracene.
