The heat exchanger tubes(3-6) have ends(7) in tube bases(8). Tube bases are made from a compression and temperature resistant plastic(24) which is cast or injected around the tube ends. Securing features(17-20) around the periphery of each tube firmly secures the tube ends in the plastic tube bases. Tube bases(8) tub-shaped and have a circumferential flange(9) into which threaded metal sleeves(10) are incorporated during the base casting or injection process. Flanged pipe connections(22) are incorporated into the tube bases. Both tube bases and flanges are reinforced(12). Security features to prevent tube pull-out are formed near the pipe ends and comprise either: a) circumferential grooves(20); b) funnel-shaped borders(19); c) rings(18); d) roughened areas(17) on external surfaces. An Independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing heat exchangers(2) with adjacent tubes(3-6) in which the tube ends(7) are provided with anti-pull out features around the periphery, then aligned vertically in an injection or casting tool(21) and a compression and temperature resistant plastic is molded around the tube ends. |
