A device 1 comprising at least three tapered slots 6, 7, 8 for gripping the mouth of a bag, a cord or other flexible article. The slots 6, 7, 8 are slightly displaced relative to each other such that the twisted mouth-end of the bag or the cord may be held taut and may be simultaneously entered into all of the slots. The bag or cord may then be drawn down towards the narrow end of the slots such that it is held within the device. To release the bag or cord can be pulled back along the slots to their point of entry. In one embodiment the device comprises four vertically aligned fingers 2, 3, 4, 5. In another embodiment, the device comprises two longitudinally slotted, concentric tubes 11, 12, closely coupled at the base of the device such that the device includes a tapered radial gap to compress and bend the bag or cord at four locations (figures 4-6). |
