The folding machine comprises a folding pocket (10) with edges and a pocket folding device (12) comprises pocket struts (14,16) for forming strut separations (18) between the pockets. The pockets have an inner recess and in on plane of the strut separator is a base actuating device. The inner recess and actuator has a neighboring outer actuator (26) and a connecting strut whose width is perpendicular to the edge of the gap.
