PURPOSE: A pneumatic tire having improved durability is provided to improve the durability of the tire by repressing breakages and cracks generated in colliding a shoulder unit of the tire with obstacles as road boundary stones or stones on the road. CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic tire having improved durability is composed of a tread(1), a side wall(2), a bead unit(3), a reinforcing layer(4) for coping with the external shock inserted and mounted in a shoulder unit at which both sides of the tread and the upper part of the side wall contact to each other, and reinforcing cords(40) arranged in the reinforcing layer and inclined at 30¯70 degrees. The reinforcing cord is made from fibers of steel cords. The pneumatic tire prevents cracks at the shoulder unit, represses the growth of the crack, and accordingly prevents the crack from progressing to the separation of a belt and a carcass by mounting the reinforcing layer for absorbing the shock in the holder unit frequently colliding with obstacles on the road against the external shock.
