PURPOSE: An ATM control apparatus of a DSLM and its method are provided to improve service quality and stability of a system during ATM cell data transmission. CONSTITUTION: A network access part(310) is connected with a network equipment(500) through a transmission line section. An ATM processor(320) processes ATM by being connected to the network access part. A data processor(360) transmits/receives data to/from the ATM processor, and transmits/receives ATM up data and ATM down data to/from an ADSL subscriber board, and compares the ATM up data with the ATM down data if an ATM data bus diagnosis command is received from a controller(340), and reports the comparison result to the controller. The controller performs ATM control by being connected to the ATM processor, and informs an operator terminal whether an ATM data bus is normal or not. And a signal processor(350) performs signal processing by being connected to the data processor.
