PURPOSE: A device for locking a cross bar in a roof carrier is provided to enable a driver alone to easily adjust the position of the cross bar. CONSTITUTION: In a cross bar locking device, spaces are formed at housings(140) attached to both ends of a cross bar. An operating unit(110) moves right and left in the space. A second elastic unit(152) is installed at a rotary shaft(150), and pushes the operating unit. A through hole is formed in the housing. A protrusion in the operating unit passes through the through hole. The operating unit moves horizontally and the protrusion do not pass through the through hole when the operating unit is pushed so that the releasing condition of the cross bar locking device is kept.
