GEMINI SURFACTANTS AND METHOD FOR PREPARING MESOPOROUS MATERIALS USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Gemini surfactants and a method for preparing mesoporous materials using the same are provided, thereby preparing mesoporous materials with regularly arranged pores having a diameter of 10 nm or less. CONSTITUTION: Gemini surfactants represented by the formula(1) are provided, wherein R1 and R2 are independently methyl or ethyl; R3 is C5-C40 alkyl; X is halogen; r is hydrogen, methyl or C1-C10 alkoxy; n is an integer of 1 to 12; and m is an integer of 0 to 10. A method for preparing gemini surfactants of the formula(1) comprises the steps of: mixing a compound of the formula(2) with a compound of the formula(3) of R¬3R¬2R¬1N, in a mole ratio of 1:2 to 1:3; and reacting them in a solvent such as ethanol, acetonitrile or toluene at 30 to 120 deg. C for 1 to 100 hours. A method for preparing mesoporous materials comprises the steps of: (a) mixing a solution of gemini surfactants with a precursor; (b) regulating pH value of the mixture with acid or base; (c) hydrothermal treating the mixture; (d) filtering, cleansing and drying the mixture; and (e) calcination of the mixture.
