A METHOD FOR MONITORING THE PRESENCE OF HARMFUL MICROORGANISMS IN PAPER INDUSTRY

The invention is directed a method for monitoring harmful microorganisms in paper and board industry. In the present method the presence or absence of the harmful target microorganism is detected by in situ hybridization method using an oligonucleotide probe hybridizable with a region of a nucleic acid molecule of said microorganism. In particular, the microorganism may be selected from a group comprising the species Deinocossus geothermalis and the genera Meiothermus, Azospirillum, Burkholderia, Porhyrobacter, "Rubellimicrobium" and Thermomonas.
