The equipment for video surveillance includes optical units for the formation of a panoramic image and the acquisition of this image by a camera which transmits video information to a remote display unit such as a television monitor. It includes a unit for acquisition of an image with a non-panoramic angular opening registered in the panoramic viewing field, with the orientation of this unit controlled w.r.t the optical panoramic field as a function of the zone of interest detected in this panoramic image.
