PURPOSE: A hotel operating system and method is provided to operate a hotel reservation, a registration, a room management, or a convenience facility management by using a digital set top box function. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises an operating server(200), a customer terminal(260), a front terminal(210), a room terminal(220), a room door device(230), and a facility terminal(240). The customer terminal(260) enables a customer to access a service site over the internet, and to reserve a service offered by a hotel. The front terminal(210) processes a check-in or a check-out procedure. The room terminal(220) receives registration data set at the check-in procedure, controls the room door device(230), and enables the customer to enjoy various services. The room door device(230) opens or closes the room door under a control of the room terminal(220). The facility terminal(240) checks a card of the customer, and pays a facility usage by using the card. The server(200) communicates data with the terminals.
