The invention relates to a convergent process for preparing a compound of th e formula (V), wherein R1 is attached at the 2 or 3 position of the benzene ring, R2 is attached at the 5 or 6 position and R1, R2 and G are as defined herein, in which an aryl boronic acid is coupled with an amine protected hal o- substituted-2-aminopyridine using a palladium coupling agent. Compounds of formula (V) are useful as nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitors in a mammal .
