In an electrochemical cell with a mercury-free zinc powder-containing anode gel, an alkaline electrolyte, a separator and a manganese dioxide-containing cathode material, the novelty is that the cathode material contains solid state salt-like calcium compounds, preferably 0.1-5 wt.% calcium sulphate and/or calcium hydroxide, especially 0.3-0.8 wt.% calcium hydroxide. |
