<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine diamond powder with excellent hydrogen storage capacity, having excellent surface activity, in which several to several hundreds of diamond units in the nanometer particle size are agglomerated in a hard-to-separate state, increase of the amount of adsorbing and desorbing hydrogen, and which is narrow in particle distribution, is realized, its production method, and a method of adsorbing and desorbing hydrogen. <P>SOLUTION: The diamond powder with excellent hydrogen storage capacity provided by applying a shock wave to a carbonaceous material contains 30-70 wt.% non-diamond components based on the total weight and whose average particle diameter is 2 nm to 1,000 nm. In the method, the diamond powder in which hydrogen is stored is treated at normal temperature or by heating, and discharges hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
