<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device capable of enhancing the protecting function for a driver or passenger without increasing the expansion amount of the whole air bag to a large extent. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag device includes an air bag 26 spread and inflated between a rear seat and a rear window glass when a shock is applied to a vehicle from behind. The air bag 26 is equipped with an inflating thickness restricting structure 37 for restricting the inflating thickness of an upper bag part 26a so as to become greater than the inflating thickness of a lower bag part 26b when the bag is spread and inflated. The inflating thickness restricting structure 37 is composed of a plurality of seal parts 38 and a plurality of cells 39 formed between the seal parts 38, and the upper portion 39a of each cell 39 is inflated with a greater inflating thickness than that of the lower portion 39b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
