PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary light source system of endoscope that efficiently supplies an optical guiding member with light from the auxiliary light source. SOLUTION: This auxiliary light source system of endoscope is equipped with: a main light source; an optical guiding member of which the incidence end surface is located facing the main light source and the exit end surface is connected with an illumination optical system installed at an end of the endoscope; an auxiliary light source that is located unlit at an evacuated position not facing the incidence end surface of the optical guiding member, when the main light source is lighting, and is located lit at a working position between the incidence surface thereof and the main light source, when it is not lighting; and a nearing mechanism to move the auxiliary light source in parallel with the light axis of the main light source to a position near the incidence end surface of the optical guiding member, when the auxiliary light source leaves the evacuated position for the working position.
